I’m Dr. Marcy Roan

Educator, Coach, and Consultant for school and district leaders.

I’ve spent twenty-five years in education as a teacher, instructional coach, school leader, and district support partner. Across every role, I’ve seen the same truth: meaningful improvement only happens when leaders have the space and support to think clearly about their work.

My focus now is helping school and district teams step back from the noise, understand what’s actually happening in classrooms, and move forward with intention.

My Path

I started in the classroom, learning what strong instruction feels like from the inside.

Over the years, I moved into coaching, professional learning, and leadership roles - supporting schools and districts through everything from instructional rounds to system-level improvement work.

These experiences taught me how deeply connected every part of a school is, and how easily leaders can be pulled away from the work that makes the biggest impact.

How I Support Leaders

Reflective. Human. Practical. Clear.

My approach is rooted in real practice - not theory.
I don’t offer quick fixes or binders of strategies. I focus on clarity, coherence, and capacity:

Clarity

Clarity begins with stepping back far enough to see what’s actually happening - across classrooms, across teams, and across the system as a whole. Leaders carry so much noise that it’s easy to mistake activity for progress. My work helps strip away the clutter so you can name what’s real, what matters most, and what’s simply getting in the way. When we see the work truthfully, the next steps become obvious.

Coherence

Schools are full of smart people working hard in disconnected directions. Coherence brings the work back into alignment. It’s not about everyone doing the same thing - it’s about everyone understanding why their work matters and how it fits into the bigger picture. I help leaders connect priorities, practices, and people so the system starts moving with shared purpose rather than fragmented effort.

Capacity

Capacity grows when adults feel supported, trusted, and equipped - not overwhelmed. I focus on the kind of development that strengthens thinking, conversation, and instructional practice. Whether through coaching, learning rounds, or professional learning, my goal is to help leaders and teachers build the internal muscles they need to improve the work long after I’m gone. Sustainable growth lives in people, not programs.

If you’re looking for clarity, we can start there.

What I Believe

What I Believe

  • Strong schools are built through clarity, not complexity.

  • Improvement grows from reflection, not compliance.

  • Teachers deserve support that honors their craft.

  • Leaders need space to think, not more initiatives.

  • Real change happens when we examine the work together.

Why This Matters

Every school is a system of people doing their best within real constraints.
When leaders have support that helps them think clearly and see the system as a whole, the work becomes doable - and sustainable. That’s why I do this.

Let’s start a conversation.
